We hit our neighborhood...which was about 10 houses that were handing out candy and then we hooked up with Jordan from across the street and hit the neighborhood behind us for awhile. Funny Stuff

4 is such a funny age. I remember Alex coming up with some zingers but Paige is just as funny.....

I told Paige I had to drop off something to a lady, Ms. Trisha. She asked, “Is she the one that makes all the electrishity?”
While in the car Paige told me her feet felt "juicy".
At Paige’s daycare, Mr. John was saying how Ms. Terry never cleaned, never cooked…Paige piped up and said “Well, get to cookin’ Mr. Johnny because MY daddy cooks!”
Paige has several sweater type blankets that are a sailor theme. 3 of them have anchors and one has polka dots. Paige said she likes the ones with the hookers better.
While driving home one day Paige asked if we were on the highway. I told her, “no.” Then she asked, “when are we going to be on the low-way?”

Alex's 6th Birthday

Alex's birthday party was a splashing success! We had her party where she takes swim lessons and it seems like everyone had a great time in the pool. She got lots of great gifts too!

Busy Bees

September has been a busy month for us. School got into full swing as well as all the activities that go along with it! Alex is in soccer and Brownies and both girls are still taking gymnastics and swimming lessons.

Alex sold a whopping 109 boxes of Girl Scout cookies!!

Mary and Allen (or is it Alan...) came up for a long weekend. We enjoyed the Renn (Renaissance) Festival with them. James took them to Six Flags for his company picnic while I attended a Brownie event with Alex.

The girls were in Stacy's wedding this weekend. They did wonderfully! I'll put a few photo's below.

Now we are gearing up for Alex's birthday party this weekend. She's having it where they take swim lessons. Plus we have soccer practice and I have to bake brownies for her to take to school on Friday....aaaggghhhh....

We went to the dentist today and the hammer finally fell. He basically told me we have to take "manket" (blanket) away from Paige. She's damaging her bite. Also, he thinks Alex should see an orthodontist because her 6 year molars are coming in and are kind of coming in at a 45 degree angle toward the molars already in place. He wants to get an ortho opinion on whether they should do something to try to correct it without damaging the teeth or wait and see if they'll fix themselves. Oh Joy!

I sure hope October slows down....even if just slightly!

House Updates

James found a wonderful extension for a painting pole and voila - he painted an accent wall in the family room. Since 2 of the walls wrap around to other sections of the house we've decided not to paint them - at least for now. We also painted the opposite wall the same color. I think it looks great! I'm also putting some updated patio pics up too!

1st Day of School

Alex was an official 1st grader yesterday! I decided I would park my car at school and walk to work for some extra excercise. Alex and I walked up to school but she told me I didn't need to hold her had. Then I asked if I could have a kiss and she said "how about a hug"....little snot :-)

She has two teachers, Mrs. Reichley who is her homeroom teacher and Mrs. Fertetta. Mrs. Reichley teaches math, science and religion and Mrs. Fertetta teaches language arts. So far she knows she has about 4 classmates from kindergarten in her class. They did a staggered start this week by the kids' last name so we won't know how many are in her class from last year until 8/28.

We visited the Virginia Safari Park in Natural Bridge Virginia on our way home from Roanoke today. Well worth a trip! You drive through the park and can feed the animals from your car...if you are brave enough.

Another one bites the dust....We have painted another room....that puts us up to two! If you read the blog previously you'll know that we painted the dining room a deep blue and now we've painted the living room. I picked a color to match the color in the shades/curtains. It's called Wild Honey....I think it looks more like Gulden's Mustard....but I love how it turned out!

Home Away From Home

After about 20 hours and lots of sweat....the girls now have a new "home away from home". We owe Uncle Richard a SUPER DUPER huge thank you for traveling so far and working so hard to help put this together! It would have taken many more weekends without you! THANK YOU!

If Darwin awards were given out to stupid people who survive - I would have won one today! I was going through Alex's Epi-Pen's and found one expired by a year. I went to dispose of it by activating it into a trash can when lo and behold - I used the wrong end! The needle went all the way through my thumb and my thumb nail. Not my smartest moment! I guess the good news is if it went all the way through my thumb I couldn't have really got any medication in my system!

James and I took a day to ourselves (no kids) and went to Philly to see the Star Wars Exhibit at the Franklin Institute. It had real costumes and models from the movies. Then we went to Geno's for a world famous cheese steak!

Thank God It's Over 4/14/08 & Family Update

Well, as an accountant I am on the final countdown for this years' tax deadline. My coworkers and I have made reservations for a local restaurant for food and libations (aka drinking!). It's been a busy season this year - I even started working a few Sundays in addition to our regular tax season Saturdays.

The troops have been taking it in stride and seemed to survive well without me. James is great about keeping the girls occupied and entertained. He has so much more patience than I do.

He started his last term at Strayer to finish his Master's degree. He has to do his thesis. Thankfully, he already has his topic lined up. As we all remember...that seemed to be the hardest part of a paper.

Alex will be done with kindergarten on May 23rd. (My Dad's birthday!). I can't believe how much she has grown this year. She gets smarter everyday. I was lucky enough to chaperone Alex's field trip this past week to the aquarium.

Paige is growing up too. Hard to believe my baby is now potty trained. She speaks so well, I forget that she's not even 4 yet.

The girls still do gymnastics every week. Next session Paige will go to "Guppies" where Mom doesn't participate any longer. That should be interesting. Alex wants to join Daisy's next year if there is an opening available at school. Right now the troops are at maximum capacity and the only way she can get in is if someone drops out or of another troop starts up. And no - I am not volunteering to be a troop leader. We will be enrolling the girls in swimming lessons this May.

I think that's about all the update I have for now!

Big Girl Reward

We've been promising for months that once Paige started "going potty" all the time that she could get a "big girl bed" and convert her carseat to a "big girl carseat" with just using the seatbelt instead of the harness. After a week of wearing panties and going potty consistently- she gets her rewards!

Strawberry Kiwi

While in Roanoke over Easter weekend we went into a convenience store for some snacks. Alex really wanted a slushie so we told her that perhaps the next day she couldh ave one. James takes both girls into the store and they come out to the car with their slushies. I ask what flavor they have. Alex says, "Strawberry Bikini". Gotta love it!

Apparently the little leprechauns have caused havoc in Alex's classroom, leaving painted footprints on the desks, messing up pencil boxes, etc. So Alex devised a trap so they wouldn't come and mess up her room. While she didn't actually trap one, he did leave her a piece of gold!

Am I the only person in Maryland that thinks it's S-T-U-P-I-D to publish where the next sobriety checkpoint is going to be? As long as the drunks read the newspaper they'll be able to circumvent the checkpoint; is this our government's idea on how to stop drunk drivers? Hey - here's a novel idea - set up the checkpoint outside the bar parking lot!

While buckling Paige in her car seat I was asking her a question she did not want to answer. Her response - "Just get in the car and drive".

While lying down watching tv I was trying to talk to her about going potty. She said, "Let's not talk".
